Blogtober| Day Six – Halloween Film Favourite

Now, let me start off this post by saying that I’m not a fan of horror in any shape or form. I can appreciate the special effects etc. that are used, but I just can’t face watching horror films – I’ll sit and squeal behind a cushion!

So, what do I do when the Halloween season starts and there are even more horror movies being shown on TV? Well, I sit down and watch my favourite spooky film – that’s what!

The Worst Witch Film, 1986

Before Harry Potter was the worst witch, and growing up, it was one of the first series of books that I delved into.

Following the story of Mildred Hubble and her inability to perform any magic without catastrophe, a film was made in 1986 starring Diana Rigg (better known to the younger generation as Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones) as the menacing Miss Hardbroom, and the wonderful Tim Curry as the Grand Wizard.

It has a particular focus on the young witches of Cackle Academy for Witches preparing for Halloween. It’s not a scary film – just a great 80’s cheese fest full of witches and spellbinding mischief!

Luckily, I’ve found it in full on YouTube – take a look! Watch out for the room of giggling girls swooning over Tim Curry, too!
